Creative Writing Activities

#1 Secret Letters.
Materials: A4 paper (cut it into 8 pieces and each student will get one), pen and a box.

Instructions: 
1. Give every student a piece of paper. Make sure the papers are the same size and colour.
2. List on the white board some words regarding feelings; Love, Admire, Hate, Happy, Grudge etc.
3. Ask them to write the letters to anyone be it parents, friends, relative and whatsoever. It is up to them whether to write the recievers' names or not.
4. While writing, tell them not to let their friends looking at what they are writing.
5. Provide them 10 to 15 minutes to write the letters.
6. After they have finished, ask them to fold the letters and put them inside the box.
7. They interesting part: Read the letters! But do not tell them that you are going to in the place place.
8. Review the letters. E.g Why they hate that person, love is good etc.

#2 My Fairytales.
Materials: Exercise book, pen and imagination.

Instructions:
1. To warm up, ask them to name fairytales that they know; Cinderella, Snow White etc.
2. Ask them to name you the five words up there; a person, a vehicle, a food, a place and an item. *up to you to add on the categories. 
3. With the words that they suggest, ask them to come out with simple fairytale according to their creativity.
4. The length of the writing and time allocation depend on students' proficiency.
5. You may show them your own version of fairytale (perhaps the one with 100 words) so that they will the idea on how this activity works.
6. Paste on the class board the best fairytale.
I did once with my students and these are the words they came out with.
